Do nothing for Google's benefit

Was just reading this and thought I'd share.

I am algo proof Google SEO News and Discussion forum at WebmasterWorld

It does bring up smething which I've thought for a while now - Google is, either deliberately or inadvertently - destroying the fundamental fabric of the web. By discouraging webmasters from linking freely to anything they care to, for fear of being penalised, which is fundamentally what the web is for - without hyperlinks from one website to another, the web would not be a web! And of course without them, we all have to turn to another method to find what we want, like a search engine, say?

I think google is just unpredictable, you do everything you should do for SEO and it doesnt even send you a hit/day, then you have a site never been optimized for google, with tons of dubplicated links, all trade scripted, etc. and it sends you 2k+/day.. That's been my experience so far!

If you take the time to make researches on any major topic that improve your SERPs, you will find all contradictory information ....

"Only links from sites related to you will work" : You get a link from slashdot to your porn site and you still get lots of benefits.

"Don't put lots of pages online at the same time" : What do all social, blogging, news, portals do? I don't see them get penalized ...

"Ohhhh! Careful getting linked from banned sites" : From google documentation at least this: "You can't be penalized by actions not being done from upon your domain.", i wrote it myself, its not literal, but its the idea.

And like this, you go to any mainstream SE discussion board, follow the top advices, and if you think a little bit about them, you will easily find a contradiction on it, just checking google rules OR seeing real case successful sites ... Check all those Big Tube sites that are taking the TGPs from the top of the SERPs i saw on other thread yesterday i think, have you checked their backlinks? Lots of mainstream sites .... Not porn related, they seem to help, and it has sense!

Honestly, when speaking about SEs, i just don;t follow any advice, i just think: "If i were i search engine, how would i identify a successfull and at the same time relevant site?", answer yourself that question, work on that in mind which is not easy if you come to the right answer, and you will eventually have some nice SERPs

And no, i'm not a SERPs guru ... Actually i don;t do much SEO ... But just seeing what other do you can see how much lots of people follow major advices and get nowhere, and you see as pbarcc says people not following them and getting good SERPs ....

Plus, relaying your whole product upon a third party, who can easily prevent from having you as a "client" has no sense ... Focus on your surfers, not on the SERPs, SERPs will eventually come with more or less time ...

Google is starting to get unwanted attention from the government. The content farmer update pissed off a lot of people. About your specific post I agree entirely. The web should be for people, not the Google bot. Google started to make me uneasy for this reason ever since they started with the NoFollow tag.

Another contradictory subject, its said nofollow its not counted, it may not be counted, still google are tracking them, i use google Webmaster Tools and i see them there ... More research should made do on this subject in order to test if actually PR passing is counted on this links or if they actually help the SERPs, just being there doesn't mean they count, but again, why track then something you are not going to use ... Lots of resources consumed invane?

Again, if you put yourself to think: "Hey! What would make a site relevant for me?", well, if i found a site on a related blog that everybody is talking about it, even when the links have nofollow tag, i would still tend to think its a relevant link, i would indeed try to make some sort of text pattern checking to avoid scamming texts instead of just ignoring all comments that link to it, again, we all know about articles writing ....

So ... who really knows how all this crap really work, focus on your product, don't forget to make it SEs friendly off course, but focus on the product and not that much on the SEs as they can from one day to the other drop you With time, more or less, visits will eventually come

Pd: I think there is no fucking chance to make a bullet proof text pattern checkings or spamming links scheme against well skilled spammers ... I think i would always need some sort of user validation input ( By that i mean somewhere inhouse of google checking some strange patterns and stuff ... Still, again, who knows how they work .... )

Spent about the last 6 months adding links through link spun etc. to my site about 500 in total. The site also went from a PR 1 to a PR 3 in that time. Now I have never been penalized or anything but in that time my daily SE traffic has declined by 600 - 800 hits a day. What a complete waste of time this has turned out to be.
Does anyone actually have any hard evidence that Link Spun style trading actually does anything?

well LS is nice for finding and controlling HL trades, and thats all what it is, you cant rely on SE, that was always like that and will always like that, - period
