ccbill was ok, today it went to shit aswell. I was talking about a wide range of sponsors.

today sales are REALLY down, not sure why but sometimes it JUST happens...

although on both my programs this month we are doing much better overall. (last 10 days BUT today were great)

i just think you guys should try other programs that are not everywhere... emm yes like mines
may be you just need to look somewhere else for better ratios... i see some guys posting ratios of 1:1000 and worst.. our average on torbecash is 1:300 (but yes we dont offer 100PPS.. sorry

btw as a program owner i can tell you overall sales, at least for us, started to fall on june this year, and was pretty bad till last month, although this month so far is averaging may incomes... hope it keeps like that.

thy's sites convert at low ratios. unique stuff not all over the tubes. they make me laugh as well. if you have the traffic for it better than sending it to some generic crap.

for me it went down since a year but overall it stayed nearly same this year without counting the lows in summer..until now its a pretty decent month

This is something I have gotten into major arguments with the big webmasters over. PORN is not a MUST HAVE thing. When it comes down to it, they will quit buying porn. But the bigger webmasters have told me I'm fucking crazy and that people will always buy porn no matter what. They say its cheap entertainment. That is a load of BS.

Seriously, you are correct - the adult industry never was recession-proof. I had the same verbal with sponsors and webmasters in 2007 when we were entering the period of denial that a financial problem was underway - and a number of these folks felt invincible and making assumptions that the economic climate would not affect this industry.

Before this current economic downturn, there have been two previous recessions (before the days of the net), I've went thru while in the adult biz, - and both were no different in that the pain was felt in varying degrees. The current recession is probably the most severe and doubt it will change much for the better during 2010.

Sure people will always buy porn, but they also have other priorities - like food. Ask any restaurant owner if his/her biz is down and on average, it will be. (That is one biz where they are either struggling to stay afloat or falling like flies.)

The question may be better expressed as to what degree are people willing to spend money on porn? Obviously not to the level they were previously willing to spend - for many reasons, including economic.

There are also many issues (too many to go into on a board!) relating to the online adult industry itself as to why revenues have dropped. The simplified current keyword would be "tubes", tho in reality, revenue has been dropping since the days when the adult biz went online. (Tho at that time revenues were seriously silly high). It's only my , but the sex industry needs a "mystique" or stigma - once the mystique of porn diminishes in the eyes of the public, they lose interest. Another aspect is that the adult industry overall is tending to sway towards mainstream by degrees where there is a higher level of "acceptability" - the stigma is starting to get blurred.

The above scenario was proven in a number of countries when adult stores first appeared. The public were curious and tempted (the mystique existed), - and revenues were thru the roof. (I can remember a city store having 7000 people/day drifting thru and having to air freight product at substantial cost to keep stores stocked with product.) Now adult stores are boring as hell for the public - they have been there, done that. I suspect there is a danger of repeating this scenario with the online industry.

That said, there always will be a market online and, least at this time, people will pay for something they have an interest in - basically suggesting a high level of niche concentration in promotion. If they want big tits or big asses - know every size and shape of these body parts and market them!

This threads always go to shit, with posters who either dont read the original question or miss a part of it.

Of course I know about the current situation, but thats not something that happened overnight. My sales went to shit overnight, thats why I am looking for possible reasones. I thought someone might have info on a major bank going belly up, some new CC regulation etc ... I was simply looking for others experience, seems like nobody was hit with a major drop in sales this month, so it must be something with my traffic.

Actually, much changed this month.

The cc companies began cracking down hard this month in anticipation of the new Consumer Cretdit Protection laws going into effect next year. There was a fairly large story on it in the member area of the WSJ this week. In fact, one article discussed the fact that retailers have pared their inventories in anticipation of a very weak holiday season because of this.

So, we are not the only ones impacted.

While October charges were way up - AMEX reported healthy charge volume in October - Novembers' #'s are likely down. Purely discretionary spending will, as always, be impacted the most.

One of the reasons I promote recurring programs almost exclusively is that having a nice bank of rebills tends to soften these blows. Of course, the trick is finding sponsors that rebill well in your niche.
