currently many sites which using linkex are high listed...so they are not on banlist.
but i think its more a mather of time until this will happen.
and how should google notice that linkex is installed? you can edit the whole output so no linkex comment will be placed on your site and if you change the dir of linkex then you should be on the save side...

Yes if google doesn't know for linkex then it cant penalize site beacuse of it.Also it was funny when someone said how can you be penalized with using lo,which is impossible since google cannot see any part of lo,lo just generate clean html links which you could manualy generate. You could be penalized only if you do too much non-relevant link exchanges.
and you think google will listen your robots.txt? LOL
you can always install linkex in different directory like "skfdjsakjrf" and do not post that url anywhere aldo you can forbidden that directory with pass protect .htpasswd and give away pass to your traders or just set up now traders manual

I have a site that uses linxex - a blog - that ranks #1 for it's primary keyphrase. No changes in my google traffic at all. I think people are seeing google changes and are jumping to conclusions about the software being involved.
I don't see any reason that google would ever say "let's devalue all sites that use a certain peice of software". It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
If anything, they would apply filters to a type of site.
Suppose they did target trade scripts, TGP/MGP scripts, etc.. don't you think they would first target scripts like DTR?

Until the second day you are using it and a webmaster with google toolbar visits the page to sign up.
Don't think they can't see this, or that they don't note it. And even more importantly is google is like your mother.
She remembers everything you did, good or bad, and going back from the day you first were born (registered) til today. And if she hears about something today, all she has to do is check its memory (cache/index) for where you were, and what you were doing back 3 years ago, all that info is there for them, they keep it all like an elephants memory, just like mom.
If you use auto generated linking systems, there is virtually NO - WAY to hide it, unless you also do not show it to webmasters.
EDIT, Just realized you said pass directory above and not just htaccess.
Put it behind a pass protected directory, or members area is about the only safe way (that I can think of)

For The Record Linkex isn't currently being targeted, but im confident its day will soon come.
The post on GFY was just a scare tactic or joke post.

This is what Im talking about. For new site where linkex was always hidden behind htpasswd and you only set up trades manual (I think this is the right way because giving away opportunity to add everything to your website by everyone is just stupid) there is no chance that google will find you soft...
EDIT, now I see you EDIT your post![]()

am just looking at a site with an open linkex form ranking well for it's keyword.
typical internet bullshit.
why not?
What you need to think about is google will forever know that the site had an 'open form' for its link trades. If and when they decide to do something about it (which they talk about constantly) it will be easy to target.
Why risk it? I build sites long term, I want shit to take rank and stay, I will not allow any script, CMS or shady neighborhoods to hinder my chances.
