Default Why webmasters prefer PayPal over Epassporte

I sent a support e-mail to PayPal yesterday (Saturday). I got a repy today (Sunday) and my problem solved. I'm still waiting for a reply to the support e-mail I sent epass five years ago.

    Thank you, come again.

Come on - PreyPal have been convicted of what looked like fraud to me, and had to pay $600 million in compensation. They can't verify payments of accounts, but rely on reclaiming payments at any time up to 6 months after the transaction. They set pseudo-lawyers onto members to try to extort non-existent debts. They make you phone a premium rate number for support, and they refuse to allow you to deal with them via a method that provides hard copy.

Do you really think that a company with the crap record of PreyPal is better than anybody else?

paypal would have been good if they didn't have problems with porn

Also if you really have an issue with epassporte you can get it solved by emailing Michael Olson he usually solves any trouble pretty quick

But I have to agree epassporte can be a pain sometimes

They don't have a problem with porn - all the sellers of stolen content on Ebay used PreyPal - I even registered a domain to list the auctions - PayPal porn - pornography being offered with PayPal payments

They've expired now, so I think I removed the direct links

paypal is ok for adult... but not for adult membership sites. You can sell dvds, toys, clothing, etc just fine with them

I have a feeling that all of what you're mentioning above happened decades ago, at least if you translate Internet time to real time.

I have NEVER had to phone a premium number for support. I have ALWAYS received prompt help from PayPal. Hell, at one point, THEY phoned me to see what they could do for me, since I was moving quite a bit of volume. Volume which, might I add, could've been moved through Epass, had they not made me jump through fucking hoops for every little fucking thing.

Anyway, my point is that Epassporte is a bird on a wire. All it takes is one of two things to happen and they're up shit creek without a paddle. One of those things is PayPal allowing adult again, which, in the current economic times, may not be too far away. The other thing I won't say, because it could really happen tomorrow and I'm sure their competitors would be there to drive the last nail in. Hell, I know I would if I were their competition.

To this day, after webmastering since 1996 with a break from 2004 to late 2008, I have avoided epassporte simply because I want to work and never could devote the time required to complete their sign-up process. And, never once have I been unable to complete a transaction on pay pal except for two programs that I would like to promote that only pay epass - so I don't promtote them.

I would've shunned Epass altogether as well, had it not been for PayPal freezing my account after I accessed it from a "weird" country during an extended visit about five years ago. I, too, never could complete their sign-up process and I hear you and I have tons of company regarding that. I did get an account from a sponsor though, which ended up being used quite frequently. I'll admit it, the Electron card is very handy to have, even if the rates you get when withdrawing money or paying with it are only slightly short of highway robbery. However, it still IS more convenient than withdrawing cash from your PayPal account, as I do not live in North America and cannot have one of PayPal's cards attached to it. Other than that, you can actually tell PayPal is a real business, not a one-man show with tons of outsourced employees all over the place.

Personaly i love my Epass account, the downsides are bad customer service (Have you ever rung them? grrr) and the yearly charge ($80) for the card. So i now only use the virtual card, shame i cant use it on the Poker sites! LOL

I hate epass right now. Their cards don't work and their support is a giant turd. Yet they'll still swear you can use the cards anywhere visa is accepted and it is simply not true.

PayPal has a Visa card available in the UK, it's a prepay but it works just like their US Mastercard debit card. Has a similar line item account manager screen. There are no fees if you load it from within your PP account.

Initial issue fee is £4.95, the card is good for 2 yrs.
Load fees - 0 from your PP acct
    Transaction fees - 0
    Service fees - 0
Foreign Exchange Transaction – A fee of 2.75%
ATM cash withdraw fee - £2.00 flat fee

    You got to be kidding.

Paypal closed 2 of my accounts this year due to "selling" content that is "offensive" to them on my "website". They ignored every inquiry which "website" and offensive content they are talking about.

The only incoming transactions I had were smaller trafficholder payments that I used to pay for ebooks and to load a local online application to send SMSs to cellphones from my PC.

The title should rather be "Why adult webmasters prefer Epassporte over PayPal". Atleast in my eyes.

Atleast my support requests don`t get constantly ignored by epassporte.

Last time I checked the plastic card was $30 if you talk about the US currency.

    Nother thing I dont get.
The card is working on ANY atm that I tried around the globe that has the PLUS sign on it. Dont use the card as a credit card to pay your gas or dinner.

And while their hotline support is really bad, Michael is bending over, taking all the shit and is fixing problems in record time every time you need something fixed.

Don't get me wrong, I like epass as far as getting paid and being able to transfer money to others and I'm not about to close my account, but they push that whole visa thing like it's the real deal and it's been nothing but rubish for me. I have about a 30% success rate using those cards. But that's just me. Maybe it's a north america thing. I'm happy that it works for you though. Maybe I should leave the usa. Who want's me?

mine never gets accepted when it comes to either Porn sites or Poker sites, the ony places i can normally find its accepted is with my Google checkout account, and high street retailers. Even CCBill rejects my cards.....thankfully the site i buy my domains & my host seem to accept it fine.

I dont mind too much as ive just brought my new 42" HDTV with it! You get to realise where you can use it and where ya cant.
