What does it take to build, launch and maintain a payTUBE?

I am thinking the same for long time with MechBunny. I just started to finetune ffmpeg settings for mobile encode, once its done I will investigate the topic further. Konrad told me that with Zombaio its pretty easy to set up an account. but not sure if I want that..

I run on a dual xeon.. never had an issue.. be sure you have good RAM and storage and you are good to go with room to spare.. STP is very easy on resources as most is memcached.. nothing is done realtime but spread to keep load as low as possible

You should've known this was coming, "What amount would you consider as "good" RAM and storage?" ? I seriously don't want a server with more than I need, but I also don't want one where my visitors are having issues due to there not being enough.

How about these specs?

CPU: Intel Dual Core E2180
(2 x 2.0GHz, 1MB Cache, 2-bay Supermicro chasis)
RAM: 1GB
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA
Bandwdith: 10TB

or these?

CPU: Intel Dual Core G6950
(2 x 2.8 GHZ, 3MB Cache), 2-bay Supermicro chasis)
RAM: 1GB
Hard Drive: 250GB SATA
Bandwdith: 10TB

What would you add if you could build a good starter server?

id say add at least 3gb of ram extra to either one of them, and you might want to consider bigger drives...

Will the I3-2120 DualCore server specs from Amerinoc be good enough to host a tube site?

Yes, as much RAM as possible for caching and 250gig is very small indeed.. especially when you want to transcode for multiple platforms say mobile as every clip will be on the HD twice...

Feeds, leased content, whatever you want to call it from Extremefeeds, AdultCentro and there's one more I can't remember right now.

If you arent hosting anything and just using feeds you really dont need any of this stuff, since feeds take up no space, use no bandwidth, and have their own cms that you would just plugin to a page.

Still wondering guys. I'd like to get something this week and preferably have at least one tube up and running next week.

I want to spider the sponsor's movie FHGs and convert them to tube clips, no members area and no feeds (at least for THIS particular project). I'm not buying a script until I have a server that can handle what I want to.

Could they both be on the same server, STXT and Movie2FLV, or do they have to be on separate servers?
Is it unlimited domains for STXT (as long as the sites are all on the same server)?
