Thread: What is the best FLV embed tool?

So get this... before I get to my question, let me give you my porn webmaster experience in a nutshell:

Started in April 2011, in fact, my very attempt fishing for advice from this board ("WTF AM I DOING WRONG? WHY CANT I GET TRAFFIC!?") was on this very board after I launching an obsolete TGP site and boy did you guys shit all over that site or what, but in retrospect, I now know that it was a piece of shit and I know why, and without that getting shitted on via constructive criticism, I would have never learned how to get on the right track, so THANK YOU

So once I got started on the right track, it took a few months to get my first signup, but to get that much I knew I had to be doing something right, and a couple of those sexy "Member Joined" hit my inbox the following month, a few the month after, and a good handful the month after that, and then November approaches and I easily surpassed the double-digit mark for 1 two week pay period and I thought that I just got lucky, but December comes up next and I blow my results from November OUT OF THE WATER and by year end I could proudly say that my patience had paid off, I made a good profit, and most importantly I achieved my goal coming into this which was make enough revenue to pay off my student loans! (this is a side gig)... but alas it was time to set a new goal that I don't want to share because I believe that I'll jinx it (kind of like I jinxed myself in December by bragging to my friends)

But anyway, let's cut to the chase shall we? January 2012 is up and I'm thinking that even if my performance is half as good as December, i'll be happy, but NO, we are back to talking... May/June numbers even though the traffic is still THERE!

So what changed?

Well only 1 thing changed... the tool I was using to embed videos has become classified as spyware and as a result, I had to find something else, and I thought I had found something better called Hana FLV Player but ever since I started using this thing, NOBODY IS SIGNING UP!!

And embedded FLV's are a very very big part of my blogs, so right now I'm looking around for a GOOD ONE, preferably a wordpress plugin, but I can go for a script/code as long as it does the job...

I have landed on the flv embed script at [dot]flv-player[dot]net but something about it just doesn't feel right... and I'm thinking in terms of the surfers experience which is the most important of all. I want to serve them what they want on a silver platter with videos that work like crack cocaine and keep them coming back!

Anyway... I would greatly appreciate if you could share what you're using to embed FLV's and sorry for rambling/venting but it's late and I just felt like writing and expressing my frustration...

i take it you are hosting the FLVs? Have you though about just using the sponsors embed code and let them host the video?

Did you take a look at flowplayer.org or the jwplayer? Those are the most common ones and have free versions...

Flowplayer... No I didnt know of that one but it looks nice and I'm going to test it right now, thank you.

As for jwplayer yes but i was having difficulty setting that up or something when I tried it.

I do prefer hosting the FLV's, but another reason I dont like to use sponsor embed code is because let's say the blog uses content from 4-5 different sponsors, and their embedded videos all look slightly different, I would rather have all of my embedded videos look the same for consistency sake.

You know, this is probably my problem... I must be the ONLY one that can't figure out the damn JW Player and everyone seems to use it so I know its the best option out there, but I can't figure out how the hell to insert the code into a wordpress post. I get how to set up the player, but not how to apply it... and all I need is a SAMPLE CODE of JW Player in action in a Wordpress post OR a demo video of how to apply it to a post and I would be set.

But I spent 10 minutes fiddling around with it, couldn't get it to display properly, and as a result started looking for alternatives... which probably are inferior.

Well since I cant edit my post, I wanted to say that I got JW Player (sort of) working using the non-WP version of JW player and I'm using it on a WP blog.

The wizard -- Setup Wizard | LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player -- works great for setting up the code, but the problem is my blog displays 2 videos on the front page and when I add the FLV and JPG for the second video, believe it or not, the first video switches to the 2nd video and the 2nd video fails all together.

What the fuck is with my luck when it comes to this player. I have no problem with all the shitty players but the problem is just that: they are shitty and inferior... ugh

AND... I got it working now.

I just needed to see an EXAMPLE code and for some reason I could not find it, but as soon as I did, I got it working and you are all right - THIS PLAYER is the BEST!
