I have a friend who cranked out some smaller sized hybrid sites - he said they did quite well for themselves. Only problem I had with them was their prod on pure text sites was not up to snuff, compared to traffic from other all text sites.

Granted, if he put a little more effort into them, he probably could have helped his outgoing prod - but his efforts were focused on build and repeat, not build and tweak - so I couldn't really blame him.

I converted a bunch of small sites and didn't really see much of an overall change. Some site gained traffic, others lost traffic, in total it's still within normal range of what they were before changing to text.

I've just changed my bigger site (100k+) today, ironically it was at an all time high for prod at the time of the change (322% on thumbs).

The prod took an immediate nosedive after changing to text on this one, however most of the big trades are still thumb trades so that was expected. What I didn't expect was for all of my text trades and noskim trades to drop significantly as well. Considering I have some of these same sites trading on my other sites, I at least had the advantage of being able to compare this site to my others, and could tell right away that there was a significant design flaw causing the prod to be lower in comparison.

I altered the design right away by dropping it from two columns of gallery links plus a third column of ads, to just two columns of links, and increased the font sizes. That seems to have helped significantly, although the site was still well under what it was getting earlier as far as prod goes.

Next I started thinking about some toplist links that I've had near the top of the page for ages now. As soon as I switched to text, these links began getting LOTS of clicks - one of them was actually getting more clicks per hour than my biggest SKIMMING trade was. Since the site getting these hits couldn't return enough traffic fast enough to justify the amount sent, that alone was causing a problem in terms of trade value.

However it also occurred to me that when I had thumbs on the site, the text links didn't stand out as much, and even if people were to click on a toplist link chances are they would still see a thumb they wanted to click on anyway.

But now I don't have thumbs. So when they clicked on a toplist link right away, they went away to another site and had little incentive to return to mine (unless they had already taken the time to read an enticing description, which is unlikely so early in the visit).

So I decided that while toplist links all over the place make sense on a thumb tgp, there needs to be a bit more viewing strategy involved in a text site, and therefore I removed the upper trade links. Prod improved again.

I would imagine that prod will continue to improve as the links get sorted better (they are sorted by CTR just like thumbs) and of course as the text trades begin to outnumber the thumb trades.

The hard part is finding enough good text trades fast enough to replace the thumb trades that will no doubt begin faltering rapidly.

Anybody who has TEEN TEXT site traffic to trade, please contact me @ 253889540 for trades up to 5-10k/day. Smaller trades are welcome also.

What a difference 24 hours can make

Site traffic is down about 30% overall. Returns are down due to the low prod. At least the outgoing prod must have increased quite a bit though because my biggest thumb trades are still sending nearly as much. My gallery traffic was down about 50%. I decided it was time for a significant design change.

First I scrapped my old two column text design in favor of my thumb design and thought maybe I could just make a bunch of thumbs from non-nude and topless images. However the prospect of cropping 7000 thumbs from scratch is, to say the least, unpleasant.

I decided to try something else before going nuts with the cropping (and hoping I didn't accidently crop a picture with a twat in it and thus violate these dumb new laws... sounds easy enough but repeat the process 7000+ times and there's going to be plenty of room for error).

So I slapped together a simple design with one column of ads on the left, and one column of large gallery links on the right, in under an hour. Virtually no thought was put into this one at all as far as making a pleasing design; the last one I spent almost a week on.

This one immediately had significantly higher prod.

    Thumb site prod: 322%
First text design: 170%, increasing to about 220% after some changes.
Today's redesign: about 250% prod so far

At least it's heading in the right direction now, up. I *think* I really need to get at least 300% prod though to get the kind of traffic levels I had before, assuming returns etc stay about the same.

Part of the problem I'm experiencing right now is that I have 1st click set to go to galleries every time, so the prod needs to be at least 250%+ (just going on past experience) to be able to return enough to trades. I'm very reluctant to remove that 1st click however, I know it made a big difference in obtaining bookmarkers and I think it made a difference with sales, and this is a really bad time to give bookmarkers (another) reason to leave my site.

One other thing I've noticed today, and it could simply be a fluke, is that my sales are way, way down. I would expect them to drop somewhat in proportion to my traffic, however I'm @ roughly 20% of normal sales today, at 1:10K, while my network wide traffic is only about 66% of normal.

I haven't had sales this bad in a very long time, so it probably has something to do with the new format.

Anyway if I'm boring anyone with this topic, just tell me to shut up I'm practically climbing the walls trying to get this thing sorted out and probably getting a bit verbose here lol.

My text sites are doing quite well, all of them always have been, amateur you made a huge mistake, you did it all at once, instead you should have weened your site off of thumbs, one group at a time until you were all text, going from all thumbs to all text kills a site quickly.

Dx, you know my thoughts on this, and besides the fact that most webmasters are lemmings and would do what everyone else is doing just to do it, I think very few webmasters have the commitment needed for text sites, and that is why they are fewer.

Anyway that's my rant, anyone with text sites that can trade over 10k a day hit me up, i can do upto 100k a day in trades
