how old are the checks, few companies only give them a 90 day life spani found out the hard way as it costed me more then the four checks were worth

I'm not sure however I did verify that everything was under 90 days last time I cashed checks. A few were only a week or two away from expiring, but everything was < 90.
I called my bank this morning and they told me all 4 checks were returned due to insufficient funds. oddly a fifth check from the same sponsor cashed on the same day did clear.
Ugh. Hopefully there's some strange isolated circumstance involved which will be fixed ASAP.

Is this the first time you have had a problem with them? Could be a sign of bad things to come in the future.

yeah I've been promoting them for years and years, never a problem, never a missed payment, no drama at all. they're a really big sponsor and these were really small checks, as I don't send them much traffic.
Same thing here, out of 2 checks cashed in Feb, 1 was returned due to insufficient funds while the other went through, they were both close the the same amount. Contacted there account info email address in the support page of there webmaster area, and they were very quick to reply with an apology and a promise to reissue payment that day with the added cost to me for the bounced check fee the bank charged etc. Have been cashing their checks since 2005 and never had a problem before, this is the first time. Don't know what to think, and hope it is a one off.
