Default FrozenJag....Please explain this to me

Some people I know runs a computer sports game site. It's kind of nerdy and made for sports nerds who like simulating leagues for stats and so forth. Kind of like fantasy sports to the extreme. They even have their own radio show on it. Nothing to do with porn.

Now they have said that their domain was stolen from their account the other day. The site is totalsportsworld.net. Looking at the whois history it appears that it wasn't dropped or anything else. The site now redirects to one of your porn sites.

So just curious how this happened?

Sounds like something server side are they using the same host by chance?

    Hey all,

Just jumped on here. I dunno whats up, havent heard of that domain before and im exclusively in adult as far as online properties go.

I went to it just now and it goes to google as Sticky Green just explained.

Please PM me what site of mine it was redirecting too. I do use both namecheap and godaddy so ill take a look and see if I can find that domain. Im not in the business of stealing domains though.

I guess just will wait for more info. Sorry guys but this definetly is news to me.

Hey I see what your saying now... When I clicked on the link in google it did indeed take me to one of my sites. I just looked in my namecheap and godaddy account and oviously seen that the domain isnt there. I can post screen shots if needed.

Im making a ticket at mojo right now to have that traffic redirected away from my site to google. I guess for now ask the owner of the site if there is a certain place he wants me to redirect it too. I have no control over this man.

Im not going to take part in accepting stolen traffic. Thanks

I'm not accusing you, just wondering if you know what's up. Is someone sending traffic through that domain in a trade or something to try and scam you? You seem like you've been around awhile so I know you'd know how little value that traffic has.

Any help on that is appreciated.

    Hi Everyone,

I host FrozenJag and am jumping in here to back him up. He doesn't own the domain (nor does any other Mojohost client/DNS) totalsportsworld.net and it is 302 redirecting to FrozenJag's abigtits.com domain and as a result neither us nor FrozenJag have any control over whats going on here.

Thanks Brad. I apologize to FrozenJag if I came across accusatory. It's just with what we have going on in the industry these days, things like this always look malicious on the face.

Is there a chance that this guy is trying to screw you on a trade? Redirecting that traffic through a trade script to pad his numbers? Or maybe a competitor out to tank your rankings in Google? I'm assuming someone redirecting non-adult domains to an adult domain is probably not great for your rankings.

Again, I apologize if you took any offense to the post. I appreciate the help in sorting it out. I don't own the site but know people who do. It was just a small site but a lot of people put time into it for their hobby.

The owners of totalsportsworld.net need to contact their host, coloquest.com. The site is being redirected at the source. I suspect that virtual box was hacked. Why it's being redirected to Frozen Jag's site is anyone's guess at this point. A Whois lookup shows 51,412 domains on that one IP address (209.249.222.18)

Thanks Brad. You guys truly are the best. Less then 20 minutes after me finding out about this stuff, the owner of Mojo Host is on here and has my back.

Cant say how much I appreciate that.

No worries bud, thanks for bringing this to my attention. You did the right thing.

Ive looked closer and I guess the hacker is just a fan of my site maybe? I truly have no idea as he is redirecting directly to my site, not through a trade or anything. Sabotage is an option, it honestly wouldnt be the first time someone has tried to take down my rankings. Anyway, no problems and if you talk to the rightful owner give him my appologies.

    FJ,
Thanks for your comments. I saw your post at OOTP and read the information.

I'm on the Board of Directors. Bottom line: Identity theft. Someone broke into our Admin's Godaddy account and transferred all domains there somewhere else, then set up the redirect to your sites. The company we show is Enom, Inc. The individual has even gone so far as to call our Admin and taunt them for the theft, saying we'll have to sue or pay to get it back.

We're considering our options right now, but if there is anything you can do on your end to block entry from anyone typing totalsportsworld.net or gridiron-glory.net, it would be greatly appreciated. We know some people visit our site from work, and obviously the above links currently get you in a NSFW situation. We have designed some DNS flush arrangements since our servers aren't the issue, it's the domain names being outright stolen.

I understand you realistically can't do anything, but if you are at least able to control the traffic from our sites to go to Google for the brief moment, it's appreciated. You can contact me on my registered e-mail here if you have any more advice, or information.

    Thanks for your time,

    LB

What a horrible situation. Niwrad, I don't think anyone was offended at all - I know my client and he just wanted help clarifying the situation because this wouldn't be his character.

eMLBCommish, I would recommend engaging a lawyer and perhaps also the FBI. I can offer up a short phone call with our general counsel Corey Silverstein, ESQ. to give you some suggestions on how to proceed on your own. He can be reached at our office number which is listed below. He's a baseball fan

According to my ticket at mojohost the technical guys have redirects to google setup for both your domains traffic to redirect to google. Why its not actually doing it I personally cant figure out right this moment. Ive updated the ticket asking if they can think of a reason for that. Im wondering if its the type of redirect that the hacker has setup? Maybe it doesnt carry the referer information?

I know in my referer stats in my traffic script, that it doesnt show either of your domains whatsoever as sending traffic, but instead urls like to your message board where people have clicked your sig maybe?

Will post here hopefully when a solution is in place.

If your admin has any idea aswell feel free to post here, Private Message me here, or email me at admin at betavisions dot com.

    Thanks

    FJ

edit* I would also reccomend contacting namecheap.com via phone to see if they can possibly help you. They would have the guys private details and chances are he used fake information which is a violation of the rules. Possibly something to take advantage of? Or maybe you could prove your the owner to them?

If the traffic is looking for the original site, then why not reg another name (somewhere other than at Godaddy or Namecheap) and route the traffic to that as a temp measure - it seems a better idea than sending it to Google and then to the competition.

    Update from mojo technical...

The 302 redirects that are being used to route traffic to my domain dont give off any referer information, therefore the redirects that we have setup are pretty useless.

eMLBCommish - I wish there was more I could do but it looks like I cant even redirect the traffic.
