Default First reactions after the Megaupload case..

I've just found these encouraging words on a well known pirate blog, one of those that not only posts movies from paysites, but one specialized in posting full site rips (they have a collection of full site rips, hundreds of em, with hundreds of movies from each site, basically a complete rip of all the members area, movies only).

As you probably heard FBI closed MegaUpload and arrested their owners. In reaction to that others filehosting servers get afraid and here is a result:

Fileserve banned accounts of most uploaders including our. They also deleted most of our files. W’re sorry about that but there is nothing we can do.
Uploaded.to blocked all USA IPs and because many our visitors are from America we will not upload to ul.to anymore
Still plenty of other companies, but the fact that two so big ones (especially fileserve) are starting to piss in their pants might be the sign that others will follow..

That's for sure! But Fileserve is maybe the most popular for sharing porn material, what i hope is these two are just the beginning of a chain effect among all the others.

Wait, many companies are still up, and people who like getting material for free won't get the cc out so fast, they won't use it ever, but among them some people will.
The direct download companies are just a percentage (dunno exactly how big) of our problems. If they all go down there will be a big return to bittorrent for many peeps, but bittorrent is way more complicated for the average user.
Then there will always be the illegal tubes. But with some patience maybe we'll get some signups coming.
Taking down the direct download companies is not the solution to all our problems, but man, it would be a great help anyway, im pretty confident with it!

Not a solution but there's always the "trickle-effect" which seems to be working now. First Uploaded and what they did (blocking ALL US ips) is causing an issue big enough for fileserve's need to apologize to it's users/surfers (their traffic is sure to start coming down as word gets around), then filesonic disabling sharing (another blow to the freeloaders).

Gotta love "trickle-effect"...it only takes one to effect the rest. The others are getting out of the way because they don't who will be nabbed next...remember, the feds are all about gathering evidence before dropping the hammer and they don't drop it until they know you can't "loophole" your way out of it.

Yes but rapidshare doesnt pay you anything if you upload a file for sharing it, remember that a big amount of these peeps are making money sharing files. Rapidshare got its problems in the past and blocked the affiliate system, same with hot-file wich has been deleting files like mad in the last year. Both of them were the first choice some months ago, but now they aren't so much popular anymore..
You can still find tons of content on rapidshare (not anymore on hot-file), but the uploaders are not so eager to post their files there, also cause big storage costs you rapids (money).
With the companies like filesonic paying you based on how many times your file has been downloaded it's harder, cause every uploader will try to upload as much as possible to earn more money and to post his upload on most blogs and forums he can to get more traffic possible.
That's also why they don't post what they like to share but they post constantly every new update from every porn site the same day it's been released in the members area.
I hope that the "trickle-effect" will soon get to restrict rapishare's policy making it even more "uncomfortable" to upload files there.

Mine have been up a little bit the last couple days actually. Nothing huge, just a little. I suspect the effect removing the file sites will have might depend on your niches too. In some niches (femdom, bdsm) file sites and forums are huge. In others (teens) most surfers tend to use the tubes more as it's easier to find.
