Gee so if we are not out over $10k it's simply not worth their time to file any paperwork.

Ain't it great to be in such a position to only bend in the direction of those with possibly enough money at stake to actually sue your ass out of existence.

For every guy who can 'sue your ass out of existence' there are a dozen people who are their enemies that will have your back.

Anyway, it's Monday, still no word. Smells like someone is being investigated big time.

I don't know what's worse, this Epass bullshit or the secondary market that has formed under it. There's a guy posting on a popular mainstream website about how he'll take 10% of the cashout on people's frozen epass sums.

Could things get more scummier than this?

Doubt the actual reason will ever be known CraK (unless there is an element of third party investigatory stuff at some stage). It would be equivalent to a bank admitting they were ripped for $20 mill, that their security systems were not secure or that they forgot to comply with banking regulations etc. It's better PR just to say nothing, accept the liability, counter the problem and more forward.

The comparison with a bank was a bad idea - no way was Epassporte ever a bank but appears to have been treated like a bank by a number of their clients.

Why would they bother wire out money if they were gone? Then they could just tell us it cant be wired from the wallet either?

has nothing to do with a hack. there are a dozen more obvious ways things could have went south. too many people watched hackers as a kid.

Webby, you're one of the rare few people on any of the boards that knows the behind the scenes deal here.

You're right. I didn't want to mention it before but I work with lots of security people and that goes back almost 14 years I think. Banks NEVER tell when their security has been breached for several reasons, lack of customer confidence, higher insurance rates, higher security fees. One successful hack and it could all come tumbling down. Each deposit is insured up to a certain amount via FDIC but that's it. That's the bank's deposits, not the customers.

If a hack occurred and money stolen then it takes time for insurance to kick in. If the bank ups the security and the insurance or parent bank doesn't like the protocols they can demand additional protocols that have to be met. In this case it was only Epass' VISA contract with the bank, not the virtual accounts.

That's the only good sign going.

Anyhow, you won't get a disclosure as to the cause of this problem without legal intervention.

For the people doing the loansharking and money changing you may be in violation of numerous federal, state, county, and international laws.

I just had to straighten out PayPal over some similar bullshit today. They tried to run a block and didn't know I knew my security shit and totally got busted on three errors. These secondary money transfer companies make a mint holding your money but they never really ever get away with it because there's always, ALWAYS going to be someone who knows their shit and there's ALWAYS going to be someone on corporate lines who detects and reports the errors.

The longer it takes Epass to clean this mess up, the deeper the hole they and whomever is responsible is going to have to dig out if possible.

Again, without clear indicators who was at fault, Epass is left holding the bag and you have three options, wait, get legal help, start a class action procedure. I can assure you, there are some lawyers out there seeing big money in that and it won't be long if it hasn't already gotten underway.

Yeah right, when security breach happens exploiter just teleport bills into his pocket and vanish. Thing is that you need to spot malicious transactions on time so you can act properly and revert them. Problem is if too much time passes and those who should did not even notice anything unusual. Which is very unlikely to happen (unless whole operation is not sponsored from somebody "above").

WTF ip0li? You should know better! You've been here long enough to know thatyour post is straight up SPAM...where's the fuckin' report link?

This thread is about ePass visa problems. I don't see not one post asking for places we can spend our wallet money.
Very poor choice for a thread to spam your script.

Your script would be the last thing I'd spend my wallet money on now.
