Default Does anybody use Webair for hosting

I just got a domain and the most basic hosting on Webair (Webair Micro). I am trying to install a free version of Smart Thumbs but it dont seem to be working. I get the following message:

www.danameda.com/st/install.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_fre_5.2.so to be installed by the site administrator.

I sent a message to their support and I am waiting for their reply but I am wondering if it is gonna work at all on that server. Does anybody use that hosting here?
    Thanks.

BTW. Do you know any good hosting account to start experimenting with Smart Thumbs and all that. I got that Webair but I am not sure about it. It seems like there are issues already and I cant even use live chat or phone support with what I have ($70 for 12 months). I dont know if it is gonna work.

I was looking on the net for a while and it seems like www.bluehost.com could be better. Do you have an idea?

Varzi can support just about anything you need and even on the most basic plan you have direct support available by email or phone 365 days a year. I will even give you a free month trial to see what you think of the service before you spend one penny. If you are interested just contact me via PM and we can work out the details and have you up and running with everything you need installed before the days end.

ST works pretty good on Crohoster's servers, also pricing is affordable so you might check it...

Webair is great, it seems like ioncube isn't installed, all you need to do is ask support to install ioncube and it should work. ST has server requirements, make sure to ask support to meet those requirements and no reason ST won't work.

btw for $70/year you won't find many others....heh

Think about how much Webair pay their support guys per hour, and add in how much it costs to set up and run the servers, the software and licences, the cost of running the data center, the business overheads, the sales staff, the management staff, etc, etc, and then ask yourself exactly how much support time your $70 actually buys you and you will start to see why you don't get live chat or phone support. I've seen Webair bend over backwards to help new clients so just be patient, they will sort out your issue in good time.

Actually when you run a large scale hosting operation the costs are much less then what they would be for a smaller outfit. Servers are dirt cheap when you buy in bulk or lease which many large hosts use the cheapest hardware they can get away with. If you ever watched EV1/Rackshack (now known as ThePlanet) rack boxes they were using generic in house assembled mid towers for their cheapo deals and charged a premium for actual rack mount type server hardware. I have no idea if they still do this but when they were EV1 they had cameras in the datacenter showcasing the towers as they were built from parts and placed on cheap shelving.

As for support you can hire phone monkeys for $5-6/hr in most parts of the US as people are desperate just to have a job. And typically at most large outfits the off hour support is either outsourced or knows little other then how to hit reboot and take notes for senior level techs. I would say bandwidth is the biggest cost factor with hosting which is why all those unlimited bandwidth deals out there are nothing more then a pipe dream.

    Default Webair is the Nuts!

    Guys,

Ive been with webair since my first TGP. I think they are the absolute nuts. They were recommended by an old school TGP'er.
When I first started off, and to be honest, didnt really have a clue what I was doing, they really helped me out. They will install and adapt your acount how you want it and for the price you pay, the support and service you get is second to none.
Ive had them set up HTacccess, crons etc, and all within a few hours. The service desk is manned by competent guys and gals, and even if its not a webair issue or hosting issue, they will point you in the right direction.
I know this looks a bit like an advert, but Ive been nothing but impressed by these guys.
I had big problems changing from Comus to ST, and had to use thier service desk. The guy knew exactly what I was doing wrong, fixed the problem, and even admiting to owning several sites himself, he shared a few tips and showed me his creations.

The nuts can mean 2 things:

    1) Used as a shortening for Dogs Bollocks

    2) Used as a shortening of Nut Hand (For all you poker fans)
