    We cant do it.

How do you transfer installation, setup, service, support, upgrades?
You're asking me to work for free because you decided you dont want to use Comus any more and sorry that leaves a really bad taste in my mouth too.
    .
Sorry to disagree, Tony, but setup, service, support, upgrades, isn't that what every respected tgp or traffic trade should offer nowadays. The only difference is that your's can't be transferred.

thatīs like buying a car, but youre not allowed to resell it when you buy a new one

and honestly i think that the most support requests on the BBS are from Free Skim Versions of CT, so when you offer those you canīt complain about that ???

CT is very easy to install
CT comes with basic queries / setup
CT users must read the manual / board themself

I still like it but like i said those new rules leave a bad taste,

    @ boneless
sure i like to the same terms & conditions when i bought the script than terms & conditions added later

when i usually do financial contracts, i am glad that i got the old Terms & Conditions and not the new ones which are usually less good. i think when a financial institude wants to change contracts with old customers they must offer same or better, cause if not there is no reason for me to agree to the new contract

We still support the Server Licences that are out there, Im still providing domains for their servers on request.. I havent changed that. And if you want another domain or key for your server I'll issue one happily.

We're just not issuing any more new Server Licences to others, my product and services were for you, and cant be reassigned now that the services and benefits of the product have been rendered.
I really don't see how the fact its a server license or an ordinary license makes any difference here.

Call me a cynic but $895 for 10 pack versus just a license transfer fee, if you were selling scripts which one would you go for?

This is nothing but assinine drama aimed at hurting our business in a public forum, and I'm not going to entertain it any more.

Look guys, the only way a product improves is if people are there to improve it.

If they cant make money at it then then they fold and you're left with an unsupported stagnant and dead product.

But maybe thats what you guys want?

Support, service and innovation costs money, thats the fact.. and you can either try and undermine that, or you can try and help out.

When you support your product it comes back in the form of innovation and improvements and this has always been the case, anyone who knows me, knows that I care about the webmasters running Comus and I put 150% back into it, and go out of my way to make sure they are informed, empowered, safe and profitable.

And all you guys have been reaping those benefits.

Comus isnt like some car that wears out, breaks down and needs to be replaced, at a huge and inflated expense..
its a product and service that has been improving and changing constantly, thanks to the vigil of many people over the years and you've been enjoying those benefits all the way.

How long would Porsche last if they had to compete against their old cars that could all be traded in for the latest models at no cost and they all came with free service and support?
And what if those cars had the ability to re-spawn themselves infinitely?

What the hell would financially support that business model?

What would happen is that the new Porsches would become progressively less and less exciting, service would get progressivley worse and eventually they would fold and buckle under a massive load of freeloaders, and then you would all have to dig into your pockets and buy Fords.

The fact is.. the terms havent changed, but the product and business has improved with time and experience and this continues. But if you want people working on and improving your sites then something has to pay for it.

I've done nothing but bust my guts to do the right thing by you guys, dragging me into drama like this, is pure bs, and quite frankly I'm offended.

If you dont mind, I'll go back to work now, if you're interested in building sites and making money together then see you in our forums http://comusthumbs.com/forum/

Well said Six. I've bought Comus and have had no problems with it. The support has been great and from this response the profesionalism outstanding. I'd recommend Comus to anyone.

Most people are perfectly aware of JMBsofts policy on the non transferability of licenses.

Did JMBsoft add this condition after you had bought no strings attached licenses or was it already in place when you made your initial purchase. I'm sure it was the latter.

If you wanted to make sure its not allowed to resell your server licenses you should have mentioned that in the terms Tony and you did not. So dont compare this with JMB Soft, they do it. And this is for sure not a thread trying to hurt a well running business, this is a thread about webmasters who paid money for a product that some want to sell now and cannot because you decide that you dont want to allow it, which you did not mention with a single word when those webmasters bought the license.

Personally I think with good competition like ST out there now youre afraid to lose money thats pretty much it.

I can only repeat you sold them you took the money and now live with it.

At least make an offer like convert it to xx full licenses when someone wants to sell it.

And to compare this with the fact that ppl cannot change their old Porsche into a new one

Btw from the law's point of view youre wrong also and would lose.

true.. I also have some JMBsoft scripts I cant sell.. never the less.. since I cant sell them i do the one thing you can do with it then.. make the best use of it.
(actually the 2nd thing.. my first idea was rm -rf $SCRIPT

now for a question I never found an anwser for. If I would have a server license for a big ass clusterd server shitload box. Are those child licenses free? or do you need to pay $45 - 95 for it per new domain under that server license?
if its free.. why not make the best use of it.. and just make a bigass server and make couple of 100 AVS/Free sites with a distributed database??
(would prolly be something I would do then)

... and finally i must admit that tony is right on what he said, (well now i can understand him better )

CT has been all time developed more and more, and i never had to pay anything for the upgrades he always offers, so i think it´ll be ok for not being able to sell the license

Well I couldn't care less but I wonder what's the difference for Tony if he either has to support and give service for the old server license owner or a new one?
The old customer bought service, updates and support with his server license and Tony has not more work with a new customer than with the old one.
The only problem I see would be the time that he has to spend to install the licenses on a new server, so why don't you guys find a solution that's good for both parties, i.e. you can sell / transfer the whole server with it's sites & licenses to a new owner or Tony gets $XX for every upgrade / new installation on a new server?

A transfer fee for a server license would make sense and would probably keep all parties involved happy. If that had existed, then this thread wouldn't have.
