They had a (capped) membership of a couple thousand people IIRC, but they were well known with many active torrents.. hundreds of thousands..
And I might add ... tagged + screenshots like no adult paysite would offer. It was easier to find porn there than anywhere on the internet, free or otherwise. Maybe someone needs to learn something about usability. If I recall the napster thing way back, this might turn into the 99c / porn scene in a few years, all tagged and centralised.

The problem is most of these sites are cataloged by Eastern European webmasters. These guys will go to any length to make a buck but if you offered them a paycheck they would refuse. Nobody could afford to hire an army of actual employees to process that much content.

Most of the ones doing all this uploading have programming, movie editing. web design and other webmastering skills they could use build sites and make an honest buck. Most Russians aren't stupid but they do seem to prefer dirty money which is why so many of them are poorer then dirt.

While I understand where you're coming from, lumping all "Europeans" and Russians on a big pile and calling them dishonest is outright bigotry. Maybe I'm misreading things. It IS right to say the poorer countries with strongly centralized governments tend to represent a disproportionate chunk of online fraud, but you have to put it into context. Most of us would behave in exactly the same way if we were born there.
Actually, some EU member states have a much stronger social safety net than "Obamacare" tends to offer. Again, this varies widely from country to country.

I don't want to lump all Easterners together but if you look at the threads on those upload forums it is what it is. Most every post is the same broken English and it's not dumb fuck Nigerians making the posts. Yes we all know there are honest Russians just like there are plenty of honest Stock brokers but they rarely get noticed and tend to get lumped in with the crooks.
In the end we all pay for piracy regardless of being American, Asian, Russian or whatever.
