Thread: Affiliate links - where do you direct the surfer?

I'm interested to hear about the preferred linking method among webmasters here.

What am I talking about?

On my sites, when I have a CLICK HERE TO JOIN link or ANY link directing the surfer to an affiliate's site, I send them straight to the join page... no main page... no tour... I send them straight to the page that we all hope they ultimately land on (and fill out).

So that means I bypass any tour, etc, because I thought a) it makes more sense if I'm saying JOIN NOW anyway and B) I would have a better signup ratio doing this...

So far I'm undecided because I can't conclude anything at all from the results I've had so I wanted to see if any of you would share your linking strategies in this thread.

IMO you will find that most webmasters do NOT link directly to join pages. They will use at least 1 page of tour before sending to a join form.
That's not say you can't ever link directly to a join page, but I think it's mainly done in specific situations and not as a general rule of thumb.

I think the type of results you can expect depends on WHERE the surfer is being linked from. Your success rate might be much lower if you link directly from a non-gallery page, but if you were to link to the sign-up page from a custom gallery, the success rate will most likely be decent.

i think you can directly link to the join page ONLY if you really sold the site before, the tour is usually convince the people to spent money so if you dont do that linking to the join form is useless

I link to the tour. Works fine for me.
