Default not satisfied with fucking up our own country's laws, they seek global reach.

U.S. Drug Policy Would Be Imposed Globally By New House Bill

The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill yesterday that would make it a federal crime for U.S. residents to discuss or plan activities on foreign soil that, if carried out in the U.S., would violate the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) -- even if the planned activities are legal in the countries where they're carried out.
    ...
The Controlled Substances Act also regulates the distribution of prescription drugs, so something as simple as emailing a friend vacationing in Tijuana some suggestions on where to buy prescription medication over the counter could subject a U.S. resident to criminal prosecution. "It could even be something like advising them where to buy cold medicine overseas that they'd have to show I.D. to get here in the U.S.," Piper says.

god damn that is retarded, so now it'd be illegal to buy weed in the netherlands (in theory)?

drug policy is such a clusterfuck, all/alot of the dispensaries in california getting closed... but why?!

Out of all the things Obama does/stands for/whatever, this one really makes no sense. Sure the system is being abused but this is zillions of dollars of taxable revenue that is just going to get pushed back underground and nothing will change (other then more mexican mafia mass murders... great alteration I gotta say)

yeah, I was wondering about that as well, I thought the weed dispenseries were not to be prosecuted by the feds so long as they were complying with state laws? I'm glad that I didn't venture into that business.

Obama said they weren't going to pursue medical marijuana but things changed I believe 2 months ago. Now there's an unpredictable business environment example

election season is approaching. probably time to set aside idealism and pump up appealing rhetoric they don't believe in.

To wage war and start an occupation within Mexico of course.

Cartel's aren't the problem in fact it's low level street dealers producing their own supply and competing with those who control the drug markets.

Are drug companies making a marijuana super pill? // Current TV

The DEA has received four petitions from companies that have products that are currently the subject of ANDAs under review by the FDA. Each product is a generic formulation of Marinol[supreg] and contains dronabinol, the (-) isomer of delta-9-(trans)- tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is a schedule I controlled substance. These petitions each requests amendments to Controlled Substances Act (CSA) regulations that would have the effect of transferring the proposed generic Marinol[supreg] product from schedule I to schedule III.

On March 17, 2010, and June 1, 2010, the Assistant Secretary for Health, DHHS, sent the Deputy Administrator of DEA scientific and medical evaluations and letters recommending that FDA-approved drug products containing dronabinol (both naturally-derived or synthetic) in sesame oil in a gelatin capsule (either hard or soft gelatin) be placed into schedule III of the CSA. Enclosed with the March 17, 2010, letter, was a document prepared by the FDA entitled, "Basis for the Recommendation to Control FDA-Approved Drug Products Containing Synthetic Dronabinol in Sesame Oil in a Hard Gelatin Capsule to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act." The June 1, 2010, letter included a document entitled, "Basis for the Recommendation to Reschedule FDA-Approved Drug Products Containing Naturally-Derived Dronabinol in Sesame Oil in a Gelatin Capsule to Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act." These documents contained a review of the factors which the CSA requires the Secretary to consider 21 U.S.C. 811(b).

Dronabinol is a name of a particular isomer of a class of chemicals known as tetrahydrocannabinols (THC). Specifically, dronabinol is the United States Adopted Name (USAN) for the (-)-isomer of [Delta]\9\- (trans)-tetrahydrocannabinol [(-)-[Delta]\9\-(trans)-THC], which is believed to be the major psychoactive component of the cannabis plant (marijuana).
