buried at the end of this article about Mexico's president making yet more bizarre assertions and claims of entitlement to my nation's resources, is a true gem:
Mexico: Felipe Calderon, Mexican President, Accuses U.S. Of Dumping Criminals At Border
Mexican schools are facing a new problem: tens of thousands of Mexican children are coming back each year with little or no Spanish.
"In the last couple of school years in Mexico, literally tens of thousands of children have turned up with last names like Sanchez, Fernandez, or Hinojosa and, it must be said, they don't speak Spanish, they speak English," Fernandez de Castro said. "We have to ask California and Texas how they managed to integrate these Mexican children who went to the United States and didn't speak English."
edit: btw, I'm not laughing at the kids who are obviously stuck in an unpleasant situation. however after witnessing a cultural shift in my country for over a decade which was encouraged by greedy politicians and corporations to create a more fragmented, patchwork culture, where I have to wait through every automated phone menu asking me to "press two for Spanish"... seeing the situation reversed is a sweet and unexpected irony.
