I as well saw this video a while ago, and thought to myself that China is manipulating its GDP growth through real estate development. In contrast, they will have plenty of spaces for people to stay in if the need ever arises.

It would seem that the Chinese government is the biggest employer in China. Eventually they will have to make repairs to these decaying structures, which will keep the employment going.

I know what you mean, but that happens here too, just look at the girl that use to lie down naked in front of bulldozers to protest the killing of the trees. She got the Guantanamo Bay tour.
It's everywhere the same. Little shops in the cities will close due to the big malls outside of the corner of the city
China has lot of inequality in terms of income as compared to US. It doesn't tell its true picture.
