Interesting AmFlix, tho hardly a surprise.

On the economic front, the human species have this weird concept that their problems can be resolved in real time. Folks tend for forget there is sweet along with the sour. They had the sweet when they went on spending sprees with funds they never really had and it's time to take the sour when that comes along. It's called reality and it's going to seriously hurt many people, including those who are "innocent".

The other aspect is that government is not going to stuff money in their pockets or give them employment - they have to get off their asses and start businesses etc to earn and that never happens overnight. Closing down an economy is easy - it took about two years to do that. Who knows, but at a guess it may take at least three years to see a whisper of sustainable economic outlook - and may cost far more than has been discussed/allocated so far and involve another wave of "bail outs". This situation is not unique to the US, tho may be felt more simply because it was an unsustainable pack of cards waiting to crumble for decades, - but the bail out's are going to happen elsewhere as well.

Even when the economy becomes sustainable, there are massive loans to be repaid, so goodbye to the rest of the next decade. Either way, Obama is screwed if he ends up relying on popularity polls - and probably the President after him - not that they can do much as the govt, other than offer carrots and sticks to prod actual wealth creators along a path.
