Turns out Paul is not interested in affiliates, so let's see how much of a king his content is without traffic.

I am not interested in affiliates who want to tell me how to run my business. I take one look at how most of them run theirs and carry on my own sweet way. Converting affiliates traffic at under 1-500.

The affiliates with a clue will be judging me on different criteria. Maybe the guys who do not need spoon feeding will see the benefit of sending traffic to a site with few affiliates.

You go support all the sites with 10,000 other spoon fed affiliates.

The original thread that was taken from is just pathetic.

I hope this part of the forum sticks and grows. The biggest problem we have with thieving shitty sponsors is that they do what they do, then vanish for a while and come back later when all the boards have cleared and there's new people who haven't seen their shit before. I hope this grows into an archive.

Do you mean sponsors who go broke, sponsors who don't know how to run an honest site or sponsors who are running an honest site that makes money and then disappear to start it all up again?

Thieving shitty sponsors are IMO the BIGGEST problem on the Net. Because if they treat affiliates like that they will treat customers like it as well and nothing has turned off the surfing public from spending money more than these type of sponsors.

FB, bottom line is I will not go anywhere and will not go bankrupt, so in no way do I think your post was aimed at me.

LM, Do you remember back when I opened the content store and you and your husband, along with others on GFY, were telling me how I should run it, what I should sell and all the other advice. So what happened to your content store? Where are all those wonderful and clever advisors today? Unseen was another one who knew how it should be done.

might be a matter of perception, Paul might be being perceived as hostile towards affiliates. I have no clue if he is or not but i can assume he isn't.

I agree sort of in theory with what he is saying but not how he is saying it.

I recently saw a sponsor that appeared as though they were willing to build, host, customize AND submit galleries for their affiliates. I laughed. Affiliates cheered... so would i if i were in their position.

there has to be a line where providing good tools to affiliates ends and being rediculously business stupid begins.

In that instance, for our company, it would require a full time employee to fulfill that option to our affiliates, someone solely dedicated to doing that one thing.

I always want to hear suggestions from affiliates, I want them to let me know how they feel we can improve what we offer. I treat every suggestion with respect because it is important enough for the affiliate or potential affiliate to bring it to my attention. However, every change we make is also tempered by the ROI bottom line. If I can't or we won't do something that is suggested to our company I will explain the reason why. Its my job.

so Paul is definitely right with what he is saying here, it just may be the tone in which it is said that can be viewed in a nagative way.

You might wanna read the whole thread, where his reply was taken from. No one was asking him to employ an army of people to cater to affiliates' needs.

thanks DX, i dont promote ppl who cant take constructive critisizm to help in fairness, in making each others biz possibly better or more fair, etc etc

sponsors that listen, and help affilates are one i like, best at that i think are Island Dollars and any like them

I would be near bankrupt without my affiliates even though
i give them 60% cut recurring and I do spoon feed them
but it's worth it .

all paul markham's posts are blatant spam and i don't read them. with the attitude he expresses about his affiliates i'd be really surprised if he weren't shaving really aggressively.

i think DX should disable paul's signature to discourage him from posting his spam here.

Paul, first the LM content store and paysite story has a lot of facets which very few are privy to and you can sit and judge from your seat but IMHO it was not due to lack of knowledge.

If you think that certain requests should not be catered to because it's 'spoonfeeding' in your mind then when you reach a plateau and the affiliates won't send, sales don't grow and more effort & dollars don't equal to more sales, don't ask yourself why. By not catering to certain request which you may 'think' are not valid or you may 'think' or useless, you are limiting the markets you can reach and the speed in which you are reaching them.

Well Paul sure is known for being a "know-it-all" and typically puts his mouth in gear before thinking it seems. Of course, I've never been guilty of that (cough).

Paul you will note that I don't promote your sites. It has a great deal to do with your online persona and the way you conduct business. It is your biz and your choice of course. WebGurl on the other hand I have great respect for and even though we have not connected in a business fashion to make either one of us real $$$, I wouldn't hesitate to do business with her. When we talk (which is not often currently) she is always friendly and as helpful as can be. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with her. I know she would remain courteous whether it worked out or not. People like that are just going to get further along in business.
